Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown rewrite Opening Night history

I Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 126-117 in the first game of the season NBA.

Jayson Tatum e Jaylen Brown drag Celtics to victory with 35 points apiece. Only twice in NBA history have two teammates scored at least 35 points for one on \”opening night.\”

It had first happened in 1961 with Oscar Robertson and Jack Twyman, then with Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain in 1969. Brown and Tatum thus joined a very exclusive club, going on to join real legends of the game.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are the first pair of teammates to each score 35+ points in a season opener since Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West did it for the Lakers in 1969. pic.twitter.com/tBaDKjtepS

Definitely an excellent way to start the season and a great viaticum for the Boston Celtics\’ year. Tatum also added 12 rebounds to his effort. In doing so, he managed to pull off a double-double with at least 35 points in his season debut., something that in the history of the franchise had only succeeded Paul Pierce in 2004.

The last Boston Celtics to drop 35+ points and 10+ rebounds in the first game of a season:
