Atlanta Hawks fire coach Nate McMillan

All Star Weekend often serves, for those not involved, to enjoy a week off in the middle of the season. This year, however, this break was ruined at coach Nate McMillan, who was fired by the Atlanta Hawks. The coach, two years on the Hawks bench, had had rifts with Trae Young in recent months. Overall, after two very good seasons both of which ended in the Playoffs, Atlanta is struggling this year and is currently eighth with a 29-30 record.

For the time being, the head coaching position will be filled on an interim basis by McMillan’s deputy, Joe Prunty. However, the Hawks will immediately begin the search for a replacement, with Quin Snyder, Kenny Atkinson and Charles Lee in pole position.
