Fontecchio increasingly a factor, but Utah never wins

Simone Fontecchio over the past month or so, accomplice to a host of injuries and more, has become a starter or near starter for the Utah Jazz, but the situation for the Salt Lake City franchise is bordering on embarrassing.

Tonight Fontecchio started again in the quintet and was one of his best with 19 points, 4 stoppages (career-high), 2 rebounds and 1 assist but Utah lost again and did so in front of its own crowd against the Oklahoma City Thunder by a 30-point, 7-assist Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Italian did his thing in the 23 minutes and 17 seconds available but his teammates a little less so.

The Utah Jazz lost 5 of 6 contests and among them was a -50 loss at home to the Dallas Mavericks, a real indelible stain on their season. Despite everything, the situation is not yet tragic, however, they absolutely must put together a string of wins between now and the end of 2023 if they want to try to stay in the running for at least the Play-In. Otherwise, tanking is the only possible solution for the Salt Lake City franchise.. Let’s see how they do between now and Christmas and hope that Simo Fontecchio continues to do so well.
