A controversial ending to the game between Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers led to unpleasant scenes with coach Nick Nurse and Kelly Oubre Jr as the protagonists.
In the final seconds of the game, Kelly Oubre Jr tried to make a basket and was hit hard by Kawhi Leonard, but they did not blow the whistle because the ball “wedged” (got stuck between the backboard and the rim) and the referees called a contested ball.
Nurse was seen yelling at the referees for missing a foul before calling a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the referees awarded a two-ball at half court, which the Sixers won on tip-off.
The ball ended up in the hands of Oubre, who once again drove down the lane and received even heavier contact from Paul George with about 0.2 seconds left.
Again the referees blew no whistle, triggering booing from the home crowd at the Wells Fargo Center and anger from the Sixers, as well as from Oubre:
