It was a night to remember for Simone Fontecchio as the boy from Abruzzo scored his own NBA career high of 23 points at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
Unfortunately, the Utah Jazz were unable to bring home the win against Jimmy Butler’s Heat but the Italian solidified once again the thought that he is not in this league by accident but deserves to play among the greatest.
In addition to the 23 points already mentioned, the result of an excellent 5 of 11 from three-point range, he also captured 5 rebounds, dished out 1 assist and stole 1 ball in almost 30 minutes on the parquet. All this while starting once again in the quintet, an idea that is getting more and more into coach Will Hardy’s head.
Below you can see his highlights:

Fontecchio was not the best scorer of his and the competition because Lauri Markkanen did better than him with 38 points, while among Miami’s ranks only Butler had a higher score, but by a very small margin, 24.
Regardless of the defeat, which in any case weighs in play-in perspective, we can only be satisfied with the fact that the former Baskonia and Alba Berlin wing is continuing to prove that he deserves that stage, also and above all because he has never stopped working, despite the many weeks spent watching his teammates play.
