NBA Summer League, second “non-paying spectator” game for Matteo Spagnolo

Matteo Spagnolo is on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster in this NBA Summer League but has not played a single second in two contests, not even in tonight’s loss to the Utah Jazz.

As a reminder, the 2003 class from Puglia received call number 50 in the NBA Draft. last year and has played all season this year with Dolomiti Energia Trentino, both in Serie A and EuroCup.

Probably Matteo Spagnolo would have expected to get a few more minutes in this NBA Summer League, partly because his U.S. rights belong to the team with which he is playing in the Las Vegas tournament, so Minnie has every interest in seeing him play. But unfortunately–we imagine–he is not shining during practice and so they are not giving him space in the game.

We’ll see if the situation improves in the last few matches, with the next game already being tonight against the Atlanta Hawks with the ball at 2 p.m. Italian time. Perhaps he will have some space today because in a back-to-back it is necessary to lengthen rotations to avoid injuries before the season starts.
