Kevin Durant wants Team USA to not only beat, but crush opponents at the 2024 Olympic Games.
“I want our players to be really dominant. 40, 50-point wins. I want to do that.”, Durant said about the upcoming Olympics, according to AZ Central.
Kevin Durant also feels this way considering Team USA’s disappointing showing in the FIBA 2023 World Cup. The team finished the tournament in fourth place, after losing to Germany (who went on to win the title) in the semifinals and being beaten by Canada in the third-place game.
It was the second consecutive World Championships in which the United States did not win a medal, following a low of 9th place in the 2019 edition of the tournament. At the 2020 Olympics, the United States took gold, with Durant leading the way.
Now Durant wants to be crowned Olympic champion once again. If the United States achieves this goal, it will be the fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal for the team and the Phoenix Suns superstar.
“It’s interesting to see how you work and what makes you yourself, because all the greats will be here. So I’m excited about that, I want four gold medals. I think I would be the only one. Let’s go for it!”
