Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving has signed with a sponsor in the sportswear market. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Irving has finally signed a sponsorship deal with Chinese brand ANTA.
“Kyrie Irving of the Mavericks has signed with a sponsor a five-year contract with Chinese sportswear brand ANTA, in addition to the unique position of Chief Creative Officer at the company, industry sources told @TheAthletic @Stadium. Irving’s management company, A11Even, negotiated the deal.” tweeted Charania Tuesday night.

Charania also added in a follow-up tweet that Kyrie Irving’s contract with ANTA also includes some rights to attract other basketball personalities to join the brand.
“The lucrative new shoe deal for Irving will also give him the opportunity to recruit/engage players and other contributors and bring a level of production to the U.S. to start ANTA’s process for full U.S. distribution.”
Rumors were swirling about the potential collaboration between Irving and ANTA long before Charania reported it, so this development is not really a surprise. If anything, it is intriguing to see how ANTA’s sales will fare in the coming weeks and months after securing a deal with a polarizing but highly talented player in Kyrie.
