In the Philadelphia 76ers’ plans are Paul George and Jimmy Butler.

After a disappointing first-round playoff elimination, the Philadelphia 76ers study a major redesign to their roster.

The staples to start from will obviously be. Joel Embiid e Tyrese Maxey. Daryl Morey’s idea is to pair them with a third star. There really will be a lot to do for Philly management, which has very few players contracted for next season and potentially a lot of salary space.

Embiid will earn $51 million while the outlay for Maxey, a restricted free agent in his first season coming off a rookie contract, will be much smaller. Expiring are Tobias Harris (earning nearly 40 million per season), Nicolas Batum and Robert Convington (11 million each), De’Anthony Melton (8). Failure to confirm or renew these items at lower figures would allow the Sixers to dive into the free agent market. The number one suspect would be Paul George, who may decline a 48 million player option and leave the Los Angeles Clippers to sign with a new team.

Another idea, intriguing but definitely complicated, is the return of Jimmy Butler. In this case, a trade with the Miami Heat would have to be tacked on, attempting to reintroduce a group that in 2019 was stopped only by Kawhi Leonard’s historic basket, which handed the Toronto Raptors victory in the Conference Semifinals and then the climb to the title.
