Here’s the trade: Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers

The soap opera comes to a close Donovan Mitchell: guard lands at the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the end it was the Cavs who came out on top and secured Donovan Mitchell. At Utah Jazz go in exchange Lauri Markkanen, Ochair Agbaji, Collin Sexton, three choices unprotected in the first round and two choice exchanges.

Two of the thorniest cases of the NBA summer market thus find accommodation. Mitchell leaves Utah, which, after Gobert’s farewell, completes its rebuilding process thanks to youngsters and, above all, the full-bodied package of picks it wanted. Sexton, the most coveted of the remaining free agents, accepted the sign-and-trade and will thus be able to leave the Cavs.

Both teams therefore get what they wanted. Chewing bitterly are the New York Knicks, who had pursued Mitchell for weeks and failed to meet Danny Ainge’s demands. No dice either for the Lakers who had tried to dream up Mitchell’s arrival by attempting to baste a very complex trade.
