Has LeBron James already picked the next Lakers coach?

The Los Angeles Lakers have concluded another disappointing season and some NBA executives speculate that Tyronn Lue, LeBron James’ former coach, may be the ideal candidate to lead the franchise as the next head coach.

Lue coached James during his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers for two and a half seasons, from 2016 to 2018. The duo reached the finals in all three years and won the team’s only title in 2016.

The potential marriage between the Lakers and Lue depends on the decision on Darvin Ham and whether the Los Angeles Clippers will change after four seasons and a Western Conference final in 2021.

With the Lakers failing to make it past the Western Conference Finals in 2023 and the first round this season, rumored coaching candidates include former Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer and former NBA veteran JJ Redick.

We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks, certainly we expect great turmoil in the Los Angeles Lakers house, and LeBron James’ stay is not so obvious, especially if his son is drafted to some interesting team.
