ESPN’s sensational gaffe over Ja Morant’s fake statement

In the day yesterday, a statement circulated a lot that Ja Morant gave to Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. In essence, Morant said he would “cooked” Michael Jordan if he had played against us in his era. Although many interpreted it as disrespectful to MJ, the Memphis point guard’s speech was meant to emphasize his own competitive spirit, as if to say that he believes in himself so much that he is not in the least afraid of a legend like the Bulls’ 23.

But that was not the only statement circulated on social media. Another statement, never uttered, was circulated by the Twitter profile Ballsack Sports, which for months has done nothing but generate fake news about the NBA world, often absurd. Some people get a good laugh at the imagination with which some news is written, others fall for it with both feet. Yesterday it was the turn of none other than ESPN. The American sports broadcaster took the bait of Ballsack Sports (“Ballsack” by the way means “scrotum”), constructing an entire installment of “This Just In” On these words, we repeat, never spoken by Morant:

If you put Michael Jordan in today’s NBA, he would simply be one of many superstars. There’s me, Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, Damian Lillard, Trae Young, and then others like LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard. There is not just one superstar and then a bunch of other average players like in his day.
