Dennis Schroder signs with Lakers after elimination from EuroBasket

Shortly after his Germany’s defeat in the EuroBasket semifinals against Spain, Dennis Schroder has been announced as the new player for the Los Angeles Lakers. The rumor had already circulated in August, but the point guard probably decided to play the European Championship without any worries. Schroder’s to the Lakers is a return, as he had already played there in the 2020-21 season with good results but without renewing due to the German’s too high demands.

Today, after a season between Boston and Houston in 13.5 point average, Schroder returns to yellow-purple with a $2.6 million annual. The chances of seeing him starting point guard would be on the rise as Russell Westbrook looks increasingly out of the picture. LeBron James immediately welcomed Schroder in Instagram stories: “So happy to have you back with us!”.

Schroder in this last EuroBasket was one of the best scorers, scoring 21.6 points on average with 7.3 assists and finishing with 30 points in the semifinal against Spain. A clue to his signing with the Lakers the player had sent him after the quarterfinal victory against Greece: his son was wearing his very own yellow-purple jersey.
