Bob Myers breaks silence on fight between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole

In the past few hours. Bob Myers, president of the Golden State Warriors, broke the silence about what happened between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole. The two came to blows during one of the last practices and had to be separated from their teammates. Some reports have referred to Poole\’s more boisterous attitude in the last period, although Andre Iguodala and Steve Kerr have categorically denied it.

Myers also spoke about Green\’s punishment, which will be decided and handled internally. Meanwhile, the Warriors star has not practiced, probably as a sanction for what happened.

I told Green, \”You\’re better than this. Don\’t do this to yourself, don\’t put yourself in this situation.\” I love him as a person, but I don\’t love what he did. I still love him, he is a good person. He really is. I have seen all the positive things he does, yesterday was not like that. He will make amends, and he has already started this morning.

He will tell you that he went too far. No one is saying they don\’t want him around, but Wednesday was not a good time. I don\’t think he likes to put himself in those situations. He is in them now, but I think he will find a way to regain the respect of his teammates and Jordan.

Green would in fact have apologized immediately to Poole and teammates for his own short-tempered behavior. According to Myers however, the episode will not undermine the renewal negotiations with Poole, who is set to expire in summer 2023 and is expected to renew at the maximum salary. Maximum salary that Green also thinks he deserves; the veteran has a Player Option at the end of this season to extend until 2024.
