A pair of videos recently went viral in which former NBA player Delonte West was seen begging and wandering the streets of Virginia. TMZ Sports cameras were able to catch up with the 38-year-old and he has now broken the silence on the above clips.
When asked if he was okay, West revealed that he was fine. The former NBA guard acknowledged that he was indeed asking for money and that this was something he needed to do for his children:
“Everything is as it seems.”, West said, via TMZ Sports. “I have kids. I’m in between jobs. People can help me as much as they can, but you know, as a man I have to do what I have to do for my children.”
West also talked about his ties to BIG3, which tried to get him back on his feet a couple of months ago. Apparently, he was cut because of tough competition, but West is still glad he had the opportunity.
In short, Delonte West’s situation is still very complicated and he is unlikely to get off the street quickly. The hope is always that it can all end for the best for the former NBA player, and we are sure that the NBA world will do everything to help him.
