Saina Nehwal Will Play China Open Only If She Is Absolutely Fit
The 26-year-old Saina, who has been undergoing a rigorous rehabilitation program, also said that she would take a final call after consulting her physio, Heath Matthews. she has been in rehab after undergoing a surgery on her right knee after the Rio Olympics, where she was disappointingly knocked out in the group stages after a shock defeat against Marija Ulitina in straight-sets.
The London Olympic-medalist has revealed how hard she has had to work on her recuperation, and how she has managed to get recover out of it in just two and a half months from an injury which usually takes nearly four months to recover from.
“My name is there in China Series. My physio (Matthews) feels I can do it, and I’ll accordingly decide on playing in the China Super Series Premier. I have two-and-half weeks more to see how well I move on the court and how better I recover,” Saina told
Saina insisted that she is not worried about how rusty she might be in the upcoming tournament, and said she is just looking forward to regaining her full fitness. China Super Series Premier will be held from November 15-20 and Hong Kong Open Super Series from November 22-27.
